¿Por qué Jim Parsons ganó el Emmy?

¿Y quién es Jim Parsons? ¿Y qué son los Emmy? Serían buenas preguntas para comenzar… Jim Parsons es el actor que interpreta al físico teórico Sheldon Cooper en The Big Bang Theory. Sí, la misma serie de 4 personajes ñoños, exitosos en su campo profesional pero que tienen problemas para relacionarse con los demás. ¡Ah! Y su vecina Penny.

Los Emmy Awards es un premio anual que se entrega en Estados Unidos y que está totalmente dedicado a la televisión. Otro premio, a lo cual los norteamericanos son bastante adictos, que no tiene el prestigio que tienen los Golden Globe Awards pero que sí es un indicativo fuerte sobre lo que vale la pena ver de la televisión norteamericana.

¿Por qué ganó Jim Parsons el premio a mejor actor principal de comedia? Sí, es evidente que hubo sorpresa, en especial porque se creía que el premio era para Steve Carell por su papel en The Office, ya que está es su última temporada en el programa, pero no. Y la razón tiene que ver con lo sucedido el año pasado: Alec Baldwin había ganado ya dos veces consecutivas por su papel en la comedia 30 Rock y el año pasado, en twitter e internet, se dijo que era injusto que no hubiese ganado Jim Parsons y eso afectó la decisión de este año.

Muchos dicen que The Big Bang Theory no es una gran serie, que tiene situaciones rebuscadas y llenas de clichés. Otros dicen que honrar a Sheldon Cooper es rescatar a muchos ñoños, físicos y personas con el síndrome de Asperger como él. Yo creo que es, como todo en Estados Unidos, una forma de mantenerse popular: buena o mala, The Big Bang Theory es un fenómeno que mueve gente y la crítica necesita de todas maneras que la gente vea el show de los Emmy.

Sin entrar a discutir sobre si Parsons se merecía o no el premio, esta es la muestra que ya no se puede pelear contra lo que se expresa en twitter o internet, que aunque no es la mayoría –por ahora- sí tiene poder, y mucho. Felicitaciones a Jim Parsons, a mí, me encanta la serie.

    Good luck getting people behind this one.
